Course objective & result

This SIR course is intended for employees who inspect and assess high-pressure equipment and accessories. During the course, participants learn how to perform visual inspections and functional tests in accordance with the applicable SIR guidelines.

You will learn how to carry out inspections safely, objectively, and correctly, thereby contributing to the safety of both people and installations. After completing the course and successfully passing the examination, the participant receives the SIR High Pressure certificate, which is valid for five years.

This course is intended for employees who inspect, test, and assess high‑pressure installations for safety in accordance with SIR standards.

 

Course objective

A High Pressure Inspector is responsible for inspecting and assessing high‑pressure equipment and accessories. This high‑pressure course prepares employees to perform inspections safely, objectively, and accurately in accordance with SIR requirements, including:

  • Performing visual inspections
  • Carrying out functional inspections and tests
  • Contributing to the safety of people and installations

 

Learning outcomes

After completing this course, a High Pressure Inspector is able to:

  • Explain which risks may arise from malfunctioning high‑pressure components
  • Apply inspection and testing protocols to installations, hoses, and tools
  • Explain which safety devices are required on a high‑pressure installation
  • Identify and apply the correct standards and guidelines, such as EN 1829 and NPR 5527
  • Correctly perform registration and documentation during periodic inspections

 

Qualification

By completing this course and successfully passing the examination, participants obtain the SIR High Pressure certificate.

Layout

  • What does the SIR High Pressure Inspector (HDK) course look like?

    This course covers both theory and practice of inspecting high‑pressure installations in accordance with the latest SIR guidelines.

     

    Theory

    • Inspector: You verify whether high‑pressure equipment may be used safely
    • Inspection: Assessing wear, damage, certificates, and correct assembly of components
    • Standards: Working in accordance with SIR guidelines, EN standards, and practical regulations
    • Safety risks: A damaged hose, incorrect coupling, or improper pressure can cause serious hazards
    • Documentation: Recording inspection results and determining whether equipment is approved or rejected

    Practical

    During the course, participants practise:

    • Performing visual inspections and assessing inspection criteria
    • Identifying wear, damage, and unsafe situations on high‑pressure components
    • Completing an inspection form or inspection report
    • Inspecting spray tools, couplings, and safety devices

     

    The SIR examination

    The course is concluded with a theoretical examination in which knowledge of inspection guidelines, safety regulations, and inspection procedures is assessed.
     

    The full final and assessment requirements are published on the SIR website.

    Basic safety training (VCA, VCA VOL, or equivalent qualification)

    Presentation of a valid original ID prior to the examination

     

    Completion of the High Pressure Inspector course (3 half-day sessions)

     

    Sufficient proficiency in the exam language, both spoken and written

    Examination fee:

    €70 excl. VAT for participants from SIR-affiliated companies

     

    €70 excl. VAT for other participants

  • Classroom-based

    This course is delivered in a classroom setting at our Alkmaar location. Participants work in small groups under the guidance of experienced trainers from the field. The classroom environment allows for personal attention, practice‑oriented exercises, and direct interaction with the instructor. This ensures that participants not only learn the theory, but also apply it immediately in realistic working situations.
