Course objective & result

This SIR course is intended for High Pressure Sprayers who are required to be SIR certified for their work. After completing the course and successfully passing the examination, the participant receives the SIR High Pressure certificate, which is valid for five years.

Target group

This course is intended for (entry-level) employees in industrial cleaning who will be working with high-pressure equipment.

 

Course objective

A High Pressure Sprayer performs cleaning activities using very powerful water jets. Working safely is essential to prevent (serious) accidents.

This high-pressure course prepares employees to work with high-pressure installations in accordance with the latest SIR guidelines, including:

  • Recognising risks
  • Working safely with high-pressure equipment
  • Safe cooperation when working with high-pressure equipment

 

Learning outcomes

After completing this high-pressure course, a High Pressure Sprayer is able to:

  • Explain the difference between high-pressure installations and flushing (low-pressure) water systems
  • Identify and control risks within the spray zone and work area
  • Apply an LMRA (Last Minute Risk Analysis)
  • Explain why behaviour is essential for safe working practices
  • Take appropriate measures in the event of incidents such as leaks or injuries

 

Qualification

By completing this high-pressure course and successfully passing the examination, participants obtain the SIR High Pressure certificate.

Layout

  • What does the SIR High Pressure Sprayer (HDS) course look like?

    This high-pressure course covers both theory and practice of working with high-pressure equipment within one working day, in accordance with the latest SIR guidelines.

     

    Theory

    • High pressure: Water discharged from an installation at very high force
    • Spray zone: The area where high-pressure spraying takes place, which must be properly demarcated
    • Behaviour: Staying alert, cooperating, and making clear agreements to prevent accidents
    • Risks: Including slipping, injuries, hearing damage, or contact with hazardous substances
    • Safe working practices: Proper preparation, correct use of PPE, and knowing how to respond to incidents

     

    Practical

    • Correctly connecting and inspecting high-pressure hoses
    • Performing an LMRA and identifying action points
    • Adopting safe spraying positions in an open area

     

    The SIR examination

    The course is concluded with a theoretical and practical examination in accordance with SIR guidelines. Participants must demonstrate that they can work safely and competently with high-pressure installations.
